Verdict
In quite a tight affair, we will side with Firenze ahead of All For Laura, Yomalo and Nephretriti Way. The selection hails from the dependable James Fanshawe yard, and the lightly-raced daughter of Efisio looked like a filly to follow when scoring decisively at Leicester in June. A 12-pounds rise in the ratings means that she has to improve, but we are happy enough to side with her again. Yomalo comes into this race in great heart, following up her course and distance win with a Listed second-place at Salisbury. She can go well. All For Laura looked every bit as good as her smart juvenile form when returning for the season last time over course and distance, and she rates a danger to all, while Doohulla might find a three-pounds rise working against her following her Pontefract success. Valjarv is eight pounds better off for the four lengths that she finished behind All For Laura at Newmarket last time, but surely All For Laura has improvement in her, and Bailey Gate, a good winner at Windsor last time, has to contend with a seven-pounds rise if she is to get her head in front again. Finally, Nephretriti Way is eight pounds better off for four-and-a-half lengths with Yomalo based on recent course and distance form, but is very much weighted to beat Bailey Gate based on Newbury form of June 21st. As we say, it's interesting, but we will side with Firenze.
