Leicester second-rower cited for Ospreys incident
Former England captain Martin Corry has been cited following an incident during Leicester's Heineken Cup defeat to Ospreys.
The Tigers lock is due to appear in front of an independent disciplinary committee after he was cited by match official Denis Templeton for "an alleged strike/contact with the eye/eye area of Ospreys player Richard Hibbard".
Leicester squeaked through to a home draw in the last eight of the competition with a bonus point in the 15-9 loss at Liberty Way, but could now lose former England captain Corry for a significant period.
If the offence is proven and is treated as gouging, it can carry a ban anywhere from 12 weeks up to a maximum of three years for very serious offences.
Northampton hooker Dylan Hartley was given a six-month ban for gouging earlier this season and his Irish club-mate Neil Best was suspended for 18 weeks.
With Leicester set to play Bath at home on quarter-final weekend in April it will be an anxious wait for the Tigers over their star's fate.
