Popular coach opts to move on

Moseley are on the look out for a director of rugby after Ian Smith announced he would be leaving the club. Smith has worked as the club's head coach since 2004 and guided the club into the second tier of English rugby. Under Smith went on to win the EDF Energy National Trophy in 2009 - beating Premiership-bound Leeds in the final - while they defied the odds at times to avoid relegation on three occasions. Smith said: "I would like to thank the club for the help and direction over the past seven years and for giving me the opportunity to develop at Moseley Rugby Club. "I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at the club and will take many treasured memories away with me." Moseley are now looking to appoint a full-time director of rugby, while the club are also in negotiations with a strength and conditioning coach.
