Promotion-chasers snap up former Wales international

Former Wales centre Sonny Parker has agreed to join London Welsh from the Ospreys next season. The 34-year-old appeared at two World Cups and was part of the 2008 Grand Slam-winning squad during a 31-Test career. Parker previously played for Auckland Marist, New Zealand Maori Colts, Pontypridd and Celtic Warriors before joining the Ospreys in 2004. However, after 29 tries and 157 appearances for the region, Parker has agreed to make the switch to the ambitious Old Deer Park club - who are in the RFU Championship play-offs. Parker told the club's official site: "I don't commit myself to anything unless I can do it 100 per cent. I want to play games and I want to win games for London Welsh. "It's also fresh start for me in London. I want to play some good rugby and hopefully I'll enjoy my time at the club."

Excellent

Exiles coach Lyn Jones is pleased to be linking up with Parker again after the duo worked together at the Ospreys. Jones added: "Sonny was a very good international player and is still an excellent rugby player. "We're delighted to have him on board for next season - he'll give us an attacking edge whether that's in the Championship or the Premiership. "It's a signing that illustrates the ambition of the club and we look forward to strengthening our ties with Wales and the WRU in the future."
