Gloucester ace extends stay at Kingsholm

Long-serving Gloucester back-row Peter Buxton has extended his stay at Kingsholm until the end of the 2011/12 season after signing a new two-year contract. The 31-year-old is in his 10th year at the club since joining back in 2002 from Newport. Buxton has enjoyed a successful career at Gloucester, topping the table three times, winning the Powergen Cup and captaining the side to victory in the European Challenge Cup. Part of the England squad for the 2007 tour of South Africa, Buxton has become one of Gloucester's most consistent and capable performers.

Experience

Able to play in the second row and back row, Buxton adds a wealth of experience to the side. When deciding on whether to extend his stay at the club, Cheltenham-born Buxton had no doubt in where he wanted to be. He said: "I've been here a long time and it's home to me. It's a great club with fantastic supporters. "Being from Cheltenham, I followed Gloucester as a youngster so it's always been my team. "We're really building something for next season as you can see from the other players signing contracts recently and I'm really happy to be part of that."
