Flanker released from hospital after collision knocked star unconscious

Gloucester flanker Akapusi Qera has been released from Gloucestershire's Royal Hospital after spending a night under observation. The 25-year-old was temporarily knocked unconscious and required seven minutes of on-pitch treatment from paramedics, following a collision with Newcastle No.8 Filipo Levi. The Fijian flanker came round shortly after leaving the field on 55 minutes suffering from mild concussion, however later tests revealed no lasting damage. Qera was stretched off with his neck in a brace as a precaution in line with the normal protocols for injuries of that nature. Despite Qera's injury Gloucester went on to record a 25-13 victory over the Falcons to lift them to eighth place in the Guinness Premiership table.
