Scotland prop leaves Franklin's Gardens

Northampton have announced the departure with immediate effect of Scotland international prop Euan Murray. The 30-year-old has left the club by mutual consent after finding himself out of favour at Franklin's Gardens. Murray, who started in all three of Scotland's Tests last month, has been in a battle with South African Brian Mujati for the number three shirt, with Mujati forming a formidable front row alongside Soane Tonga'uiha and Dylan Hartley. "Euan is a big personality and has helped the club become competitive again at the top end of the Premiership and in Europe," said Saints rugby director Jim Mallinder. "He has played well for us and we have enjoyed having him here at Franklin's Gardens. We wish him all the best for the future." Murray added: "I've enjoyed playing at Franklin's Gardens in front of its great supporters, and I will take a lot of happy memories with me. "I wish everyone at Franklin's Gardens all the best for the future."
