Quintin Geldenhuys will captain Italy on their summer tour which takes in Tests with Fiji, Samoa and Japan.
Regular captain Sergio Parisse is injured so Zebre lock Geldenhuys will lead the squad.
The Azzurri face Fiji in Suva on June 7, Samoa in Apia on June 14 and Japan in Tokyo on June 21.
Toulon prop Martin Castrogiovanni has been rested. There are three new faces in the squad - Zebre trio Dario Chistolini, Andrea de Marchi and William Palazzani are set to make their international debuts on the tour.
Newcastle's new signing, lock Josh Furno, is included, along with Wasps back Andrea Masi.
