Steve Borthwick says England will test their squad depth in the final autumn international against Samoa on Saturday, live on Sky Sports Action.
Injuries to Billy Vunipola and Nathan Hughes have opened the door to potential starting berths at No 8 for former captain Chris Robshaw and Sam Simmonds.
With the Six Nations in February, forwards coach Borthwick has said England are keen to give a series of players an opportunity at Test level.
"We want to make sure we find out as much as we can about all our players so that we know what depth we have, we know strengths and weaknesses," Borthwick told Sky Sports News.
"This is a game that's very important for us and a game we want to play really well and win, that's our first objective.
"The selection we make with that team, the selection Eddie will announce once it's finalised, is specific to what we want to do this weekend and makes sure that we find out more about all of our players.
"We are always testing different combinations because we want to make sure we are ready for any eventuality in a game. We also want to try other combinations to ensure our players are adaptable."
Despite hinting at a number of changes for Saturday's match, Borthwick remains resolute that England's aim is to end the series with a 100 per cent record.
"First and foremost we want to win this weekend and play well. We want to improve our performance and that's been our consistent objective, every single day, we want to get better," he added.
