Burger to lead Welwitschias
Saracens flanker Jacques Burger has been confirmed as Namibia's captain for Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.
Burger, who impressed as Sarries secured the Aviva Premiership title, is the star name in the 30-man squad for the Namibians, who face Samoa, Fiji, Wales and South Africa in the tournament.
Fellow flanker Jacques Nieuwenhuis is also based overseas, playing in France with Aurillac, with the rest of the squad plying their trade in South Africa and Namibia.
Coach Johan Diergaardt said: "We have blended youth and experience and must not be compared with other Namibian World Cup squads as we are the first to spend more than two years preparing for the tournament."
Namibia failed to collect a single point four years ago - and will face a similarly tough task in New Zealand after being pooled in the 'Group of Death'.
