Scrum-half to remain in Brisbane hospital

Hurricanes scrum-half TJ Perenara has had his return to New Zealand delayed after he developed a blood clot. The 20-year-old is in a Brisbane hospital after undergoing an operation on the ankle he fractured in a friendly against the Reds. Perenara, who suffered the damage to his left ankle while scoring a try, was expected to return to Wellington on Friday. However post-operation complications, with Perenara developing a blood clot, have meant he will face a further week in hospital. Hurricanes doctor Ian Murphy told the Dominion Post: "Now he has a post-operation complication, relating to the development of a blood clot in his left leg. "TJ will stay on in Brisbane so it can be monitored but no further operations are planned. We are planning for him to come home later next week."
