Sharks coach contacted by Leicester
Marcelo Loffreda's chances of remaining as head coach of Leicester look bleak after Sharks chief Dick Muir confirmed he had been approached by the Tigers.
Speculation has continued to mount about whether Loffreda will hang on to his position at Welford Road after a poor start to his reign in charge.
Having won the double last season, Leicester not seem set to finish this campaign with no silverware - with only a mathematical chance of them reaching the play-offs.
Loffreda, though, has not been helped by the fact he only arrived after the start of the season due to his commitments with Argentina at the World Cup - and
he has vowed to fight on.
However, it seems Leicester could have finally lost patience with him with the Tigers seemingly already begun sounding out potential replacements.
Muir is one of the names in the hat, with the Sharks coach confirming that Leicester had approached him - although the South African remains fully focused on the Super 14s.
"It is an honour to be approached by a famous club so rich in history and success, but nothing should be read into it," said Muir.
"It is that time of year when European clubs are putting out feelers as they do their forward planning.
"At present I am not interested in anything but the Sharks and the semi-finals."
