Number eight will visit face doctor after head clash
Scotland's Dave Callam is to see a specialist facial surgeon on Monday after he was forced to retire from Saturday's World Cup warm-up game against South Africa
In what is thought to have been an accidental clash of heads, the back-rower took a blow above his right eye and subsequently suffered blurring to his vision.
Team doctor James Robson said: "He has been seen by an ophthalmologist in Edinburgh today and we will seek a further specialist opinion tomorrow."
Prop Gavin Kerr (foot) and and flanker Kelly Brown (hand) are unlikely to train in the early part of this week.
Kerr is currently in an immobilising boot following the recurrence of a toe injury. Both players are also due to undergo further assessment on Monday.
Dr Robson said that a number of other Scotland players were suffering from 'bumps and bruises'.
But he added that they were of a kind to be expected after a game of Saturday's intensity and none of their injuries was causing concern.
