Team GB’s Women’s Rugby Sevens side are through to the last four in Rio after defeating Fiji 26-7 in the quarter-finals.

They made the perfect start as Abbie Brown took advantage of some indecision among the Fijians to score straight from the kick-off as she latched onto a loose ball before racing over, with the try duly converted.

Fiji began to throw the ball around and some patient build-up play enabled Litia Naiqato to slip over next to the posts before the extras were again added.

That was as good as it got for Fiji, however, as they again failed to deal with a kick forward, allowing Alice Richardson to cross for another converted try.

There was still time for Team GB to score a third five-pointer before the end of the first seven-minute period, some sloppy play from their opponents allowing Joanne Watmore to go over in the corner.

Britain began to stretch their legs in the second half, Brown scoring her second try of the game following some neat interplay, with the conversion wrapping up the scoring.
