Nonrunner
William Haggas has won this for the past two years and it's very difficult to see past the stable's TASLEET, who is 8lb clear in the ratings after his excellent run behind the exciting Shalaa in the Group 2 Richmond Stakes at Goodwood. He's already a Listed winner and should add this lucrative prize to his tally. Orvar is next best in on official figures and doesn't have too much to make up as though beaten in a four-runner affair at Newmarket last time he was less than four lengths behind Shalaa in the July Stakes earlier. Lathom landed the Super Sprint at Newbury from stablemate Mr Lupton and the former was unlucky in-running in the Molecomb Stakes. All of his runs have been over the minimum trip but he hasn't been stopping and this isn't a stiff track. Mr Lupton didn't look suited to Chester after that Newbury run but Excessable, who started a very short-priced favourite in the Super Sprint, hasn't run subsequently. He faded in the closing stages on that occasion so it's a surprise to see him over an extra furlong though his connections wouldn't be running him unless they believed he would stay the extra. Projection was impressive at Windsor and can only improve.
