BRANDYWELL BOY has the ability to cope with top weight in this company and is selected ahead of Irving Place, Yungaburra and Back In The Red. The last named has put together a string of near misses and deserves a change of fortune. Having won off a 1lb higher mark last summer, the four-year-old is reasonably well treated and, with the ground likely to suit, a big run for the money can be expected from the Ron Harris-trained gelding. Yungaburra is also well handicapped and, having breezed home in a competitive heat on the All Weather at Wolverhampton 10 days ago, he arrives here in great form. However, as he is yet to win a race on turf, his lack of consistency tempers the confidence for a major play today. Irving Place represents a yard in great form and the return to six furlongs should suit. He has dropped to an attractive mark this season and would be dangerous to underestimate. However, Brandywell Boy is tad more reliable and, as this represents an ease in grade for him, the mount of Billy Cray (knows the gelding well) is taken to stamp his authority over these lesser rivals. The jockey's 7lb claim also helps his burden at the weights.
