Verdict
The ease into this grade for Friday's Takings does not tell the whole story and he is fancied to get back on track today; possibly with Ballare and Encounter giving him the most to do. The last named was noted when staying on when his chance had gone on softer ground than ideal at Brighton last week. These faster underfoot conditions should see him in a better light and a bold show is anticipated if he can stay balanced on this turning track. Ballare has some fair form on the all weather to his name and looks sure to pay his way in that sphere if he can stay sound. He is very lightly raced for one of his age and could still have a little more to offer. However, the same has to be said of Friday's Takings, who has been given a real chance by the handicapper after showing signs of fatigue at the start of this year. The assessor has dropped him 19lb since his last run, which admittedly left a little to be desired. However, it is worth bearing in mind that he still gave weight and a four-length beating to the likes of Jamestown on that occasion and he looks worth chancing today, as only a repeat of that performance would suffice in this very moderate affair.
