In a race that will take little winning TAEPING is our rather speculative selection ahead of Caol Ila and Billie Jean. Reg Hollinshead's colt has been dropped 6lbs by the assessor after failing to land a blow the last twice but on his only start here this son of Invincible Spirit wasn't beaten far into third and, as that effort was off 56, today's mark of 50 looks fair. Two horses stand out as big dangers, the first of whom being James Given's Caol Ila who showed good speed when taking third in a better nursery last time. That race was at Wolverhampton and the filly is yet to run here but in a race where so few have solid form claims plenty will give her the chance to show the surface holds no terrors. Billie Jean is both a surface and handicap debutant and must therefore be watched in the market representing such powerful connections. This half-sister to crack two-year-old and Guineas winner Cockney Rebel is certainly bred to be a bit better than a 55-rated handicapper and it would be no surprise to see Michael Hills' mount show these the way home. The others are uninspiring at best but at least Annia is weighted to get closer to Caol Ila than last time although the filly was beaten miles here on her only try whilst The Two G's has been dropped a few pounds and enters calculations on the back of that. Lairy has no weight and wasn't beaten far last time but no wins from 10 is worrying and Thewinnatakesitall has run well on one start here so has a chance but in a poor race we'll take a chance on Taeping.
