In depth

Verdict

Another relatively small field for the final chase on the card and it should fall to one of three contenders. Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained Keaneo has been running well with two wins at Hereford in the past month, the last one being a comfortable nine length success from Montagnette. Sue Smith's April Spirit has been knocking on the door until putting in a disappointing run last time out and as a result she is passed over in favour of Rigadoon. The six-year-old is by no means a confident selection, but has shown solid enough form at this level without winning and in a race where the abilities of the jockeys are not well known, his pilot Gino Carenza could make his experience pay off. Of the remainder, El Cordobes looks to be the pick, but he has a couple of recent moderate efforts to put behind him before he can be supported with any confidence.
