This may be an opportunity for Bright Sun to return to the winner's enclosure, with Granston and Spin King the most likely dangers. The selection has been dropping down the weights and ran well from this mark of 72 when a half-length third of nine to Double Vodka at Doncaster over a mile earlier in the month. The drop back to seven furlongs and faster ground will be to his liking and he looks worth taking a chance on in a race where there are doubts about all of them. James Bethell has been enjoying a good summer and he saddles Granston in this race, and the grey gelding also has a chance. A winner of 73 at Ripon in April, the handicapper has had his measure since, but back off just a 2lb higher mark and with trip and ground to suit he can also go very well. Of the others, Spin King makes some appeal, having enjoyed a Leicester win over this trip and on fast ground last year. He too has been plummeting through the weights, but a mile may be his best trip, though he can still perform with credit off this mark. Nevertheless Bright Sun can shine here.
