      Verdict

      Forebearing is interesting but he isn't the horse he was, while Jack Dawson is a proven stayer and will need a sound gallop over this trip to bring out the best in him, something he isn't guaranteed to get, but he is sure to be all the sharper for his run at Epsom and it may be worth taking a chance with him. John Berry's charge turned in a sound effort, over what was an inadequate test for him that day and while this trip is still short of his best, he comes here in good form and is taken to return to winning ways. A high-class colt three years ago, Forbearing has been on the slippery slope ever since. At his best he would pick these up and carry them as his second to Island House, with the third Vintage Premium eight lengths away, in the Listed Doonside Cup would suggest. The winner of a couple of claimers this year would suggest he still has something to find. Trueno didn't shape too badly on his British debut at Salisbury, and he is sure to be sharper this time. He will be a danger to all. Clarisse looks to have something to prove off her current mark, while Ezz Elkheil needs to find improvement for the step up in trip. Handicap debutante Alnaj doesn't look particularly well treated, but a case can be made for the three-year-old Blazing The Trail, especially as he will be wearing blinkers for the first time. He didn't look to be putting it all in at Kempton last time and while he wouldn't appear that well treated on this handicap debut, it could be that the headgear will bring about some improvement. However, with Jack Dawson you have an uncomplicated, solid handicapper, who is only 1lb higher than his last winning mark.
