        Verdict

        LONGSHADOW came unstuck bidding for a hat-trick in better company than this at Beverley. He gets another chance back in this grade. But Miss Macnamara now looks in the handicapper's grip having landed a double at Catterick earlier. Rayadour's win at Ripon came on heavy ground but the inconsistent Jan Smuts is good enough to figure on a going day. Madrasa escapes a penalty for winning an apprentice's race at Redcar last week and should go well.
