In depth

Verdict

Tenancy is 13lb higher than his last win here but in his favour he performs well on the ground. Bedloe's Island appears to prefer quicker ground but La Capriosa races at the top of the weights and needs to return to form to challenge. Ballarina is 12lb higher in the ratings than when she won here last month whilst Sands Of Dee has won on heavy ground before and should be capable from his mark after a short head loss at Catterick. Paul Hanagan chooses to ride CROSS OF LORRAINE rather than Sir Louis and we take the hint. Chris Grant's gelding has shown little in recent starts but did record back-to-back wins in July and is only 4lb higher than the second of those two wins. If he handles the going then he could be a winner at a bigger price but it is a notoriously difficult race to judge.
