Formwatch
Mastermind (IRE) is an each-way selection in a competitive renewal of the Spring Cup. His draw is not ideal - and low numbers are certainly at a disadvantage on the straight course here in big fields when the stalls are on the stands side. He ran well in the Lincoln and should give a good account of himself here. He's a pound worse off with Pulau Tioman for that Lincoln run so a case can be made for him also. Atlantic Rhapsody should also improve on his unplaced Lincoln effort and certainly has claims on his best form. The Whistling Teal will have his supporters also. He won easily at Pontefract on his seasonal return, his first run since being gelded, and it will be interesting to see how he fares after an 8lbs rise. It may be a competitive race but there is no real strength in depth to the field so Mastermind, who has a little bit more class than most, ought to go well.
