KITE WOOD could be hard to peg back although he does have something to find on the figures with All The Aces whilst it's too soon to write off Age Of Reason. The Derby also ran has a tendency to get warm before his races and hasn't always impressed physically but that certainly wasn't the case before his run at Newmarket and he ran out a worthy winner. He was allowed to dictate the tempo which always sounds a note of caution but he's given the benefit of the doubt. All The Aces has never been beaten by more than two lengths in nine career starts and was just a length and a half behind Doctor Fremantle at Newmarket. The form has worked out pretty well with Schiaparelli and Alwaary running well next time and this consistent performer should go close. Age Of Reason may have found the run coming too soon when tailing off at Newmarket but he has a bit to prove at this level on these shores although his entries suggest that connections retain faith in his abilities. Basaltico will need to leave his Goodwood form behind but that was his debut for this yard and he could do so; the market may guide whilst Dansant and Fiulin are interesting runners who don't look quite good enough to win. Kings Gambit ran a big race on debut for this yard at York and should see out the longer trip which will prove no problem for Mourilyan although success at this level has, thus far, eluded him. Kite Wood should have some competition for the lead this time but is still taken to prevail.
