In depth

Verdict

Stellite suffered a reversal last time but that was over a mile and now dropped to seven furlongs, Jim Goldie's gelding gets the nod ahead of Kings Point and Cha Cha Cha. The selection was only beaten by three parts of a length at the track last time where his stamina just seemed to fail in the closing stages. Now dropped back in trip this course and distance winner can return to winning ways. Al Wasef is one to watch in the betting as this well-bred animal makes his handicap debut now dropped in trip, whilst Stoic Leader needs a strong pace to be at his best especially over this shorter trip. Cha Cha Cha is very consistent and Kevin Ryan's filly has tasted success here before. She is holding her form well but is paying with the handicapper as a result. Il Castagno is game and consistent and is unlikely to be far away again, whilst Abbondanza will do well to give weight away all-round in this tightly-knit handicap. Expect improvement from Kings Point after a recent pipe-opener at Chester; however it is the tough Stellite who can score.
