          Verdict

          Sample finished a lot closer when fourth over 7f here last time and should be capable of better still. But INEXORABLE TIDE was beaten only a length over track and trip on his recent debut when finishing ahead of a subsequent winner and Ralph Beckett's grey gets the nod. Dukes Meadow should also get involved on last month's second here while Birkdale Boy will be sharper for a recent return to action at Wolverhampton.
