Verdict
Thunderbolt Jaxon would not have to be anything special to take this, and can make a winning debut at the expense of Esteem Machine, King's Apostle and Doctor Ned. Peter Chapple-Hyam was pleased with the progress of his youngsters last year, and the stable should pay to follow, especially when the Turf season begins. Thunderbolt Jaxon did not see the racecourse as a juvenile, but by all accounts has been working well on the Newmarket gallops, and could be worth chancing first time, with none of the opposition standing out. The son of Dr Fong will be suited by further on breeding, but is expected to be sharp enough to do himself justice today. Esteem Machine has a bit more experience, having had two outings round here, and he too will benefit from a step up in distance in time. Indeed, given his trainer, he may one day end up over hurdles, given his breeding. King's Apostle shaped well on three outings on Turf last term, going close on each of the last two occasions. He is another to add to the mix along with Doctor Ned who can only improve. Eddie Ahern has been booked for newcomer Faithful Ruler who should be noted in the market, but we return to fellow debutant Thunderbolt Jaxon as the pick.
