There is not much between the field that are drawn together for the finale but Cantemerle caught the eye in defeat at Newcastle last time she was seen out and she is selected to finally rid herself of the maiden tag today; possibly at the main expense of Banningham Blaze and Most Saucy, who head the list of dangers. However, it will also be interesting to see if there is any confidence behind Margery Daw as she failed to act on the track when she disappointed at Brighton and a better effort is anticipated at this more conventional track. The daughter of Sri Pekan has never fulfilled the promise of her early potential but has the profile of a filly that could spring a surprise when least expected. However, her recent switch from the Marcus Tregonning yard does not appear to have halted her slide towards obscurity and she is for the brave only today. Therefore, as Cantemerle arrives here on the back of a much improved display, she is fancied to strike another blow for her shrewd yard if she builds on the effort today.
