Verdict

There are few nagging doubts about all four runners in the field but as Mister Links has at least got race fitness on his side, he is given slender preference to Colisay and St Andrews, who make far more appeal than Mistral Sky, whose connections will enjoy taking on some of the big boys but their charge has a mountain to climb on the official BHB figures for the race. However, Mister Links, who ruined his chance by pulling too hard in last season's 2,000 Guineas, arguably posted his best performance to date when he was last tried over this intermediate trip when finishing third in the Greenham Stakes last April. The son of Flying Spur obviously goes well at around this time of year and can banish the memory of his below par effort on his reappearance if he settles a little better to today. Colisay is a consistent performer that will not make it easy for the selection and, as a very lightly raced five-year-old, he looks the obvious one to give Mister Links the most to do.
