Verdict
Another difficult race to sift through with the two winners Mistanoora and Spectroscope, looking to face stiff tasks under their penalties. The former, a wide margin winner at Wetherby, may prefer a stiffer track than he faces here, while the time Spectroscope clocked when winning over course and distance back in October was nothing to shout about. Paul Nicholls introduces another French import in the shape of Bal De Nuit and he deserves the utmost respect, but the one they all have to beat is Vanormix, who was still there with every chance when A P McCoy fell off him at Cheltenham. Ger Supple has been handed the reins this time and he should make no mistake.
