None of those with racecourse experience exactly jump off the page in the one mile two furlong maiden so we will take a chance on the well-bred debutante JAN MAYEN, who if running up to anywhere near her potential should be too good for this lot, leaving Major Lawrence and Freedom Fire best placed for minor honours. The only doubt about the pick might be the trip as her useful half-siblings found success over sharper distances, that said, her sire stayed at least this far and with Mark Johnston perhaps doing slightly better with his older debutantes than his younger charges this filly can score at the first time of asking. Major Lawrence sets the standard of those who have been seen in public and while he has looked mildly progressive in recent starts his form doesn't exactly get the pulse racing. Freedom Fire is closely matched with the one we¿ve just talked about so is given place claims while Mutajaaseer improved from his first to second outing and can progress again. It could be that the pick will need this run but with not much in this field to beat Jan Mayen she can score first time up.
