Verdict
BEAT THE RUSH won at Pontefract in the manner of a horse to follow and we will do so here, while there are plenty of challengers in the form of Gomrath, Awsaal, Private Story and Rawnaq. The selection won easily in a 1m 4f handicap at the Yorkshire track, and he has risen just 5lbs in the weights for that, which looks generous. He looks progressive enough and goes well on the ground, so we will stick with him. Gomrath chases a hat-trick after wins at Lingfield and Catterick. Fast ground will also suit and he looks likely to be very competitive. Awsaal was a Salisbury maiden winner last time, when the step up in trip certainly suited. He has to prove he handles conditions today, and they are plenty quick enough for him. Private Story has a bit to prove in terms of trip, but has a solid enough profile, while Rawnaq was the easy winner of a Hamilton maiden earlier in the month and the handicapper has taken no chances with a mark of 83. Given that the Mark Johnston runners appear to have gone off the boil, we will take him on with Beat The Rush.
