A runner-up over track and trip last time, Cabaletta meets nothing of Enbihaar’s calibre in this but an earlier poor effort in soft ground doesn’t inspire confidence and SUBJECTIVIST is preferred. The latter placed in the Gordon Stakes here last month and was only beaten a length in soft going at Haydock on a previous attempt over 1m6f. Celtic Art goes well here though steps up from 1m2f while Table Mountain has plenty to find having won a handicap over 2m at Ascot.
Celtic Art (FR) 20-1 (9-7) Held up towards rear, ridden and headway when switched right over 1f out, one pace and no impression inside final furlong, 6th of 11, 3 1/4l behind Junkanoo (8-0) at Goodwood 1m 2f hcp (2) gd in Jul.
Subjectivist 12-1 (9-0) Led, ridden and headed 2f out, soon weakened, 7th of 8, 7 3/4l behind Pyledriver (9-3) at York 1m 4f Grp 2 stks (1) gd in Aug.
Cabaletta 7-1 (8-9) Dropped in last, raced quite freely, ridden over 2f out, went 2nd 1f out, edged right and no impression on winner inside final furlong, 2nd of 3, 3 1/2l behind Enbihaar (9-6) at Goodwood 1m 6f Grp 2 fll stks (1) gf in Aug.
Table Mountain 9-2 (8-0) Led early, chased leader until over 5f out, going well over 2f out, led over 1f out, clear inside final furlong, easily, won at Ascot 2m hcp (3) gf in Jul beating Scaramanga (9-4) by 4 3/4l, 6 ran.
