COUNCELLOR is the preference in the closing contest with Seneschal and Dens Gift others on our shortlist. The selection is much better on artificial surfaces than on turf but as such, he does appear well treated and having been supported on his previous visit to this track, a recovery mission looks afoot. Seneschal is in rude health at present. He made all to win a Salisbury apprentices handicap but will find life much tougher off this revised mark. Dens Gift is capable though frustrating. The drop back to seven furlongs should not prove problematic. Rum Jungle looked most progressive last year and the market will tell us what a winter will have brought. Dingaan looked useful at times though is inconsistent. Nevertheless, as a previous course winner, he is worthy of respect. Trafalgar Square won off lower marks earlier in the campaign though was well held last time out. Last Sovereign is often well backed and if the sunshine arrives, the firming of the ground will be more of a help than a hinderance. Brassini did not have a clear run at Newmarket and may be better than the line of form suggests. Ivory Lace put up a solid performance at the course last week and makes a degree of appeal under useful claiming rider, David Probert. Plenty hold chances in this contest and Councellor is our call.
