Barney Curley has plotted up a quickfire handicap campaign nicely for Cristoforo and he looks up to the task of taking this contest from Stolen Hours and The Varlet. The selection is due to go up 16lb very shortly and now looks the time to catch him again. A soft ground Warwick winner in April, he flopped when dropped back in trip next time, but after a break he won by a very easy three lengths at Folkestone back over 1m 4f last time and looks more than capable of defying a 5lb penalty and taking this very ordinary contest. Stolen Hours was rewarded for some consistency when running into a place over an extended mile and five at Newbury last time, and clearly appreciated the longer trip. This 12 furlongs should be fine and John Akehurst's gelding is expected to go well again. Of the others, few make appeal, but The Varlet is a specialist at this sort of trip, likes it on the fast side, and although fully exposed, he is probably capable of matching his latest start at Newmarket and running into a place. Nevertheless we are more than happy to support Cristoforo on his way to another success.
