In this seven-furlong cavalry charge, turn the wheel, roll the dice, spin the coin, do what you need to do but, for us the pin fell against the name of Saxon Lil, from a shortlist that also included Avit, Best Desert and Forest Dane. Avit likes it here and, based on his narrow defeat last time, has a fair chance, although the downside is that he is unproven at the trip. However, Saxon Lil won well at Beverley last time and a penalty should not be enough to stop her from running well again. As such, she gets the vote. Captain Cloudy is generally consistent but has maybe not fared too well with the draw. Best Desert fared better in headgear last time and this easier track than Carlisle should suit and, if the blinkers work again, can go well. Cayman Breeze looks well-weighted based on recent course form, but is the 18 box going to prove problematical, that's the question? Forest Dane was not far behind Avit here last time and, looking likely to appreciate the extra furlong, is respected. Warlingham is closely weighted with Cayman Breeze based on recent six-furlong form, although both are drawn wide, while Pheckless might still be vulnerable at today's weights. Iceman is now just three pounds above the mark from which he won over course and distance last August, so warrants some consideration, and Jazzy Millennium is closely rated with Warlingham on recent course form, so have a look at him too. For us, though, the vote goes to Saxon Lil.
