Norman Beckett showed promise on his debut at Brighton but Mick Channon's colt disappointed on his next start at Windsor and is probably best watched in a race that is taken to go to Hunter Street, who is preferred to Malech. The last mentioned is a son of Bahhare, trained by Michael Bell, who is capable of producing one to win first time out. Mick Quinlan has had plenty of success with his juvenile team so Final Bid, a son of Mujadil, should be watched closely in the betting market beforehand, while Ed Dunlop's Foreplay is likely to need the run as most of the stable's youngsters do. The John Jenkins-trained Soft Gold has the edge on experience over his rivals but probably needs to improve to trouble Hunter Street, who ran a fine race first time out behind Puskas at Newmarket and a reproduction of that effort may suffice for Peter Chapple-Hyam's youngster.
