    Verdict

Sand Cat can overcome a low draw to add to his tally, with Trombone Tom and Conciliate taken to chase Jeremy Noseda's colt home. This has cut up badly from the overnight stage, and the defection of some useful youngsters leaves the path open for Sand Cat to defy his penalty. The son of Cadeaux Genereux came good at the fourth time of asking when scoring on his Polytrack debut at Wolverhampton three weeks ago, clearly appreciating the faster surface much more than when beaten in soft ground at Ripon the time before. Although no world-beater, he should progress enough to beat today's opponents at least, the best of whom may be Trombone Tom. The latter went in at the first time of asking in a Newcastle claimer but then failed to build on that at Carlisle next time. He looks forward enough though and should go well. Conciliate is the most experienced and has not done a great deal wrong so is not to be ruled out entirely, but with the selection's stable in good form, and his berth in stall one unlikely to be a hindrance in this small field, it is Sand Cat who is preferred.
