Verdict

Some well bred, expensive purchases go to post for the first time and the selection of QUARREL couldn't be a confident one but he is preferred to Kilt Rock and Hierarch. Willie Haggas has a decent team of juveniles at his disposal this term and it may be significant that this colt holds entries in the Champagne Stakes and the Middle Park. The American bred has plenty of speed in his pedigree and his sales price rose at two. Anything that Richard Hannon runs merits close inspection and Hierarch appears to be the stable's first string but he doesn't have any fancy entries and could find this trip on the sharp side which certainly should be the case for Gordon Flash. Kilt Rock is of more interest for a yard that has introduced some of their better juveniles at this venue and he's related to plenty of speedy juvenile winners in the US. He has a Champagne Stakes entry and is one to monitor. Advertisement is well entered up and looks the part on paper but the yard hasn't enjoyed that much success with their youngsters here in recent years. Similar remarks apply to Atlaal and it wouldn't surprise to see either land this prize but we'll go with Quarrel.
