Fly-half taken to hospital with suspected dislocated ankle
Danny Cipriani was stretchered off with a serious leg injury during Wasps' Guinness Premiership semi-final against Bath.
The fly-half was caught at the bottom of a ruck after being tackled by Olly Barkley early in the second half.
He was administered with oxygen on the pitch before being taken to hospital to have the injury assessed.
At first it was feared the 20-year-old, who was screaming in pain in the immediate aftermath of the incident, had suffered a broken leg.
However, after leading his side to a 21-10 victory, Wasps captain Lawrence Dallaglio said he believed the injury could be a dislocated ankle.
He told
Sky Sports 2 afterwards: "It's a nasty injury and no-one likes to see it.
"Danny's got a bright future and we wish him all the best."
Should the injury prove as serious as feared, Cipriani will miss England's summer tour to New Zealand.
Wasps intend to release an update on the injury on Monday, with director of rugby Ian McGeechan echoing Dallaglio's thoughts.
"We don't know anything yet about Danny," said McGeechan after the game.
"We'll have to see if it's a break, dislocation or both. We think it's the ankle.
"The only priority for Danny now is to be 100 percent fit again. He's a talented player and his fitness should be all we're thinking about.
"We'll make sure that happens. When he comes back and plays he'll be 100 percent. This club does that for its players."
With Jonny Wilkinson already missing the New Zealand tour in order to recover from shoulder surgery, England's only other recognized fly-half is Sale's Charlie Hodgson, although Barkley himself also played at fly-half during the World Cup.
