Johnston handed England call

England have added Ben Johnston to their squad for this weekend's clash with Argentina.

England have added Saracens centre Ben Johnston to their squad for this weekend's international against Argentina at Twickenham.

The 27-year-old was called up by Andy Robinson after the England coach saw a couple of his charges pick up minor injuries in Sunday's 41-20 defeat to New Zealand.

Johnston, who skippered the England Saxons against Canada in Toronto earlier in the year, already has two full caps to his name.

"There are a few knocks that we want to assess further overnight before we name the team tomorrow (Tuesday) afternoon," Robinson explained.

"We are pleased to have Ben Johnston with us and we are looking forward to him contributing in training this week."

The under-fire England coach will, though, be boosted by the return of several players for the clash with the Pumas as Josh Lewsey (Wasps), Mark Cueto (Sale), Perry Freshwater (Perpignan) and Tom Rees (Wasps) return to the squad after sitting out the New Zealand defeat through injury.
