Sam Burgess included in England's Rugby World Cup squad

Sam Burgess has been included in England's World Cup squad, according to Sky sources.

Burgess has been playing union for Bath for less than a year, but has been part of England's World Cup training squad which will be cut to 31 when coach Stuart Lancaster announces his plans this afternoon.

His inclusion means there may be no place for Luther Burrell, who featured at centre for England in every game of their 2015 Six Nations campaign.

Sky Sports also understands that Sale fly-half Danny Cipriani has also missed out on selection, despite coming off the bench to score a try in the 25-20 defeat by France in Paris on Sunday.

Former England captain Will Carling believes it is a mistake to select Burgess, claiming he is not ready to play rugby union at the highest level.

However, ex-Great Britain and England rugby league international Paul Wellens believes Burgess has all the attributes to succeed at the World Cup.
