Scotland duo Ross Ford and Jonny Gray have been cited for alleged foul play during Saturday's victory over Samoa.

The forwards will face a hearing on Tuesday when they will discover if they are free to face Australia this Sunday in the quarter-finals of the World Cup.

The pair have been charged by independent Citing Commissioner Scott Nowland with committing an alleged act of foul play during their final Pool B clash in Newcastle.

Australian official Nowland has accused hooker Ford of breaching rules on dangerous tackles, while lock Gray is sweating on an allegation that he committed an illegal tip tackle.

Their fate will be decided by independent Judicial Officer Christopher Quinlan QC of England at a hearing in London on Tuesday morning.

World Rugby have also reported that Australia forward David Pocock has received a Citing Commissioner Warning, following a clash with Scott Baldwin of Wales in their Pool A match on Saturday.

However, the flanker has been given the thumbs up by independent Citing Commissioner Steve Hinds to face the Scots after he was given a warning for planting a knee into the midriff of Baldwin.

World Rugby said: "A combination of three yellow cards or Citing Commissioner Warnings accumulated during the tournament will result in a hearing.

"Pocock is therefore free to play in Australia's quarter-final against Scotland."

However, Pocock could yet miss the match after sustaining a calf injury midway through the second half at Twickenham.
