Ellis Jenkins captains Cardiff Blues as they start their Guinness PRO12 season on home soil against Edinburgh Rugby.
Head coach Danny Wilson has named a number of his Welsh internationals, including Matthew Morgan and club captain Gethin Jenkins, on the bench in order to manage their work load.
"Our international players have only been back for a short period of time so there's a responsibility to make sure they are not just going from game to a break and back into a game," said Wilson.
"We've tried to make sure every player has had a window of pre-season."
Rhys Gill, Kirby Myhill and Taufa'ao Filise make up an experienced front row, while George Earle and Macauley Cook pack down in the second row.
In the backs Steve Shingler continues at fly-half, Blaine Scully comes onto the wing and Dan Fish is given the nod at full-back.
Edinburgh coach Alan Solomons has included five of the club's summer signings in his starting XV, all of whom are named in the backline.
Glenn Bryce wears the No 15 jersey for his first competitive outing, with Rory Scholes starting on the right wing.
The side will have two further debutants in their midfield as Solomoni Rasolea and Sasa Tofilau make their competitive debuts in the midfield while Scotland international Duncan Weir will pull the strings at fly-half.
