Nuits St Georges was due to run yesterday at Newmarket so, in his possible absence, a tentative vote goes to MONSIEUR LAMBRAYS who looks a progressive stayer capable of handling the step up to 2m. If his stamina gives out, Red Royalist is probably the one most likely to profit as he’s placed in both starts this year, though could have done without a 3lb rise. Theatro was staying on over 1m6f at Haydock and should last home and Jus Pires would have a squeak on his best form.
Monsieur Lambrays 7-2 (9-9) Held up in last trio, headway on wide outside chasing leaders over 2f out, ridden and hung left over 1f out, stayed on to lead towards finish, won at Salisbury 1m 6f hcp (4) gf in Jul beating Dono di Dio (9-2) by 1/2l, 10 ran.
Theatro (IRE) 10-3 (9-4) Raced wide, keen in touch, ridden and headway 2f out, stayed on inside final furlong, went 4th close home, 4th of 14, 4l behind Vindolanda (8-13) at Haydock 1m 6f hcp (4) sft in Jul.
Jus Pires (USA) 22-1 (9-4) Held up towards rear, ridden over 4f out, well beaten final 3f, last of 11, 12 3/4l behind Benadalid (9-1) at Ripon 1m 2f hcp (3) gs in Jun.
Aldreth 25-1 (9-6) Tracked leaders early, mid-division, smooth headway to track leaders over 3f out, effort over 2f out, ridden over 1f out, stayed on and every chance when rider dropped rein inside final furlong, just held, 2nd of 13, 1 1/4l behind True Destiny (9-7) at York 2m hcp (4) gf in Jun.
Red Royalist 5-1 (9-7) Settled in mid-division, not much room 3f out, headway when not much room 2f out, switched left and went 2nd over 1f out, held by winner but kept on inside final furlong, 2nd of 8, nk behind Le Musee (9-4) at Chepstow 2m hcp (5) gd in Jul.

Armandihan (IRE) 17-2 (9-7) Pushed along and chased leader for 2f, handy 3rd on inside, led narrowly inside final 2f, headed over 1f out, weakened well inside final furlong, 6th of 11, 6 1/4l behind Solo Saxophone (9-4) at Thirsk 1m 4f hcp (5) gs in Jun.
Nuits St Georges (IRE) 3-1fav (9-6) Raced wide close up, ridden and headway 2f out, stayed on inside final furlong, 3rd of 14, 1 3/4l behind Vindolanda (8-13) at Haydock 1m 6f hcp (4) sft in Jul.
