Cumin heads our shortlist, with Gweeba and Deccan Express expected to give the daughter of Fusichea Pegasus the most to do. This race has been won by some useful types in years gone by and the form is usually worth following. Gweebara sets the standard from those with experience and will be a popular choice after his solid effort in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot. He does need to keep improving but is going the right way and, as he should handle the firm ground, a big run can be anticipated. However, Cumin, who also took her chance in the Chesham and, like Gweebara, may have finished closer to the winner had she not met trouble in running, makes a touch more appeal this time. The Barry Hills-trained filly cost $600,000 at the sales and is easily the most expensive purchase in the field. There is plenty of stamina in her bloodlines and she is sure to get better with experience. The form of her debut run is working out well and she will be hard to keep out of the frame here. Deccan Express was not given a hard time on his debut at Sandown and also catches the eye as one for the future. He will stay at least a mile in time but it will come as no surprise to see him post a much better display this afternoon. Obe Royal can also be expected to pay his way in due course, while support in the betting ring for Dafour would also be interesting as his trainer, Mark Johnston, has won this race four times in the last ten years. Nevertheless Cumin has all the ticks in the right boxes and is fancied to get off the mark this afternoon.
