Verdict
This is far from easy with so many unexposed runners in the line-up and Port Quin couldn't be a confident selection. Allied Powers is an obvious contender whilst Collection has always been held in high regard. The selection may provide us with a little value in a typically competitive handicap but he is no forlorn hope by any means. Like many from his yard, he showed massive improvement between his first and second starts before disappointing on the all-weather at Lingfield. That run has to be forgiven but he should come into his own over middle distances this year whilst his jockey is riding with great confidence this season. Support for Tomorrow's World would be ominous for the others as the Stoute yard has a decent line on the likely favourite Allied Powers. Michael Bell's runner won a shade cosily at Chester and is likely to go up by more than the penalty he carries but the Freemason Lodge runner who finished second enjoyed little luck in running. Collection was highly touted at two and did little to dispel those hopes in two runs as a juvenile. However, his reappearance proved to be a big let down as he was readily beaten at Doncaster and he now has something to prove as a consequence. He could be leniently handicapped if he lives up to expectations but as he has questions to answer we prefer to look elsewhere and select Port Quin.
