Having been narrowly beaten when well supported in a handicap at Newmarket's Guineas meeting, Sir Michael Stoute's Arakan will be a popular choice to go one better and is taken to do so at the main expense of New Seeker and Greek Revival. The selection did not appear to be particularly well treated at Newmarket off a mark of 89 given that the horse that he beat by three-quarters of a length at Warwick previously, New Seeker, had won a similar contest of a rating of 76. Considering that, the son of Nureyev did well to go down by just half-a-length to the improving Self Evident and, off the same mark, Arakan should be able to again beat New Seeker, who has gone up 11lbs for his success. The Barry Hills-trained Greek Revival looked a colt of some potential when winning at Lingfield nursery last term but disappointed on his return in the Free Handicap and a bigger threat to the selection may be Dame de Noche. From the in-form stable of James Given, she beat a decent-looking field of maidens to open her account at Nottingham last month and, from a decent draw, looks a danger off a fair mark.
