A large and competitive field for this handicap so it has the makings of a good 'getting-out-stakes'. Narrow preference is for PAVERSHOOZ although with a list of dangers including Knavesmire, Wyatt Earp and Sea Rover, it will certainly be no walk in the park. Named after a shoe shop in York's Piccadilly area, the selection has looked a highly progressive horse of late. Having grown into himself both physically and mentally this year, he looks ready for this step back up to six furlongs and with his ultimate aim a crack at the Ayr Gold Cup, he needs to keep moving up the handicap in order to get in. Ishetoo has been behind him twice lately but was a good winner here in May on quick ground, Striking Spirit caught the eye in the Wokingham last time in a gallant seventh place, whilst Kaldoun Kingdom should appreciate this return to six furlongs. Atlantic Story is better on the all-weather, Harrison George loves this place but looks too high in the weights, whilst Bond City has some good form over this trip earlier in the year. Mel Brittain has his stable in good form and his filly Knavesmire and the bottom-weight Sea Rover give him a good chance of a local winner. Wyatt Earp loves to win at this track and hasn't been at his new yard for long; he may appreciate being the big fish in the smaller yard and is not to be taken lightly. Grazeon Gold Blend is very consistent and if the rain stays away then he should have conditions to suit. It's hard to work out how the draw will complicate things here but we will stick with Pavershooz to complete his hat-trick.
